Welcome to Busy Bees Bottle Lake

At Busy Bees Bottle Lake our core values are Whanaungatanga (valuing you and your family), Manaakitanga (Culture of kindness and being easy to deal with), Katiakitanga (protecting our people, places and things) and Mohiotanga (commitment to new learning). We strive to teach our tamariki each of these values in meaningful and authentic ways.

Strong relationships are built on good communication and positive relationships are always at the heart of our work. We provide an open-door policy where parents/caregivers/whānau are encouraged and welcomed to discuss their priorities regarding their tamaiti with kaiako in a respectful and reciprocal manner.

Our programme is play based, inspired by the interest of tamariki. We embrace the principle of ako, ensuring that the contribution of all learners, kaiako and tamariki, is valued and all can participate to their full potential.

Our tamariki and whānau feel a sense of belonging at Busy Bees Bottle Lake, and we welcome new families in, to feel right at home too.  Our teachers live locally, which supports our strong sense of community and comfortable and welcoming environment. Our centre provides nurturing and stimulating environments for young children with its separate Nursery (Taihua), Preschool (Kūkūwai) and Kindy (Ngahere) rooms, as well as areas where tamariki can come together to share tuakana-teina (older-younger child) interactions where wonderful teaching moments are shared. We aim to promote the development and learning of each child, through positive partnership with parents and open communication at all times for family, tangata whenua, whānau, and community.

Our teaching ream are well respected within the community and we pride ourselves on our strong professional relationships with our families and this enhances our ability to provide the best learning environment for your child, which was commended in our current ERO Review.

Our centre is well equipped with resources and this helps to support our greatest asset which is our trained teachers and support staff, many of whom have been teaching at the centre for a number of years. Our passionate teachers show constant enjoyment in their work and build strong relationships with the children.

Our Parklands early learning centre features three age-specific rooms – nursery, preschool and kindergarten. The children and families of our communities experience an environment where their needs and aspirations are valued.

We believe that children learn through play and experience; teachers are facilitators of this learning, but the children are the leaders.

Excursions

Exploring our local community is something the tamariki love to do. Our children enjoy walks where they can get out and explore locally. We are fortunate the centre is a short walk from Bottle Lake Forest and Titirangi Reserve. Other places our kaiako and children love to visit include The Wetlands and of course our local schools.

These excursions provide so many learning opportunities as children practise following instructions, finding things to research, and explore the world around them using their senses. Excursions also provide great learning about health and safety whilst out and about in the community, seeing new things and meeting new people and developing working theories of the world around us.

Readiness for School

One of our strengths is transitions into, between and out of our service where we have 3 key transition co-ordinators who plan, implement and communicate every step of this with you. As your child grows and reaches their next milestone, we have key teachers right there with you supporting the transition all the way until primary school. We have strong connections with all of our local primary schools and nurture this relationship as we prepare your child for school.

We are committed to follow the aspirations of the New Zealand National ECE Curiculum, Te Whāriki. Te Whāriki envisages kaiako in early learning settings working in partnership with parents, whānau and community to realise this vision. The expectation is that, in their early years, children will experience a curriculum that empowers them as lifelong learners, right from their early exploration of the world around them, through to preparation for school.

Testimonials

Both my daughters go to this centre and I could not recommend it highly enough. I feel very comfortable at work each day knowing they are in the care of the professional and caring teachers. My girls are always happy to arrive and when I see them at the end of each day they are smiling ear to ear. The communication from the teachers is great, I get to know what they have been up to either verbally or via email. Awesome place, check it out!

Parent Feedback

My boys have been going to this centre since they were 8 months old. They are content, and calm in the care of the lovely staff. They have lots of opportunities to learn via a range of experiences they don't get with me at home. It makes going to work a lot easier knowing they are happy.

Parent Feedback

I have grandchildren at this pre school and I am glad that they are there......Excellent
